Moodle - Student Help

This section of the Help Files covers the Moodle Calendar.

View CalendarThe four types of calendar event, these are:
Global events - these events are created by the Moodle Administrators and occur over all the papers. The events are ones such as  the beginning and end of semesters and holidays.

Course events - these events relate to this paper alone and could be something like an important assessment.

Group events - These events can only be viewed by members of a group. They can be for such things as a meeting to discuss a group assignment.

User events - These are the only type of events that a student can create and are only viewable by the student. They could be any kind of personal reminder or note.

Click the Month Title to view the full calendar.

Calendar Detailed View

You are able to temporarily hide certain types of events by clicking the eye icon relating to the event type you would like to hide in the Events Key area.

When you move your mouse over the highlighted date the activity it is related to will appear.

Click on the activity to view the full description within the calendar day.

Click again on the activity title to navigate to it within the appropriate paper.

Viewing the calendar by month

Click on the month name on the side block calendar to view the full calendar with titles shown. You can select which paper you wish to view events for using the 'Detailed Month View' dropdown. The full calendar view also allows you to hide specific event types using the 'Click to hide' link beside the event name in the key.

Adding a new user event

To Add your own user event, which only you can view, click the "New Event" button.

Name your event and provide a description. Modify the Date and Time of your event. You are able to specify a Duration and/or Repeats for your event

Click the "Save changes" button to finish.
