Google Apps (weave.waikato.ac.nz) is a set of applications available for students and staff at Waikato and includes your University email and calendar.
The apps allow you to work online to create, share and collaborate on a range of document types including text, spreadsheets, presentations and forms. The apps suite also allows you to quickly create websites and Google groups. Using these tools can make your online life easier, more efficient and more flexible.
Google Apps for Education is the overarching system that holds Gmail, Calendar, Drive (aka Docs), Sites, Video and Groups. At the University we all have access to Google Apps which enables us to get real-time collaboration across operating systems without attachments, expensive client software, or burdensome IT management.
The University of Waikato staff use Gmail. Google's Gmail application is a powerful email application that integrates nicely with the other Google applications to enhance the collaboration experience.
Google Calendar is the University's calendaring system. Google calendar is a comprehensive application that enables you to schedule meetings and events with staff members across campus, create multiple calendars and publish calendars as required.
Google Groups are part of Google Apps for Education here at Waikato and they provide an easy way to communicate with large to small groups of people. You can use Google Groups for mailing lists, discussion forums or special interest groups, giving a simple yet powerful option for staff and students to stay connected.
